LOCALS are rallying behind a popular Tamworth chiropractor who lost her daughter in a horrific crash almost a week ago.

Patients, colleagues, friends and family are supporting Dr Raelene Gill, or Dr Rae as she is known at work, in the wake of the devastating crash that claimed the life of her 11-year-old daughter, Grace.

The mother and daughter were travelling along the Bruxner Highway, on the outskirts of Tenterfield, about 3.30pm on September 10, when their black SUV lost control and left the road.

Specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are now trying to piece together what happened in the moments before the black SUV the pair were travelling in hit a tree.

The force of the crash then saw the SUV career into a nearby dam, near Bryans Gap Road, and sink.
