We have been told it would cost the city $33 million a year for 10 years to bring the city’s roads up to snuff.

The estimated cost to redo Queen Street was $18 million but the way things are going the total will probably be well over $30 million.

We spent $6 million of taxpayers’ money (another $5 million came from other sources) to construct the useless chunk of concrete known as the Downtown Plaza.

Our Police Service had a $2.9 million deficit last year and has projected another $1.9 million for this year, although it is apparently working to cut this back.

Cemetery Services is expected to post a deficit of $170,000, pushing council to consider reducing the number of cremated remains that can go in a single plot from six to four.
