The City of West Hollywood is facing criticism after lowering flags to half-staff under a federal order honoring right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk.

President Donald Trump issued the proclamation on September 10, directing that U.S. flags be lowered nationwide through September 14 “as a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk.” The order applied to public buildings and grounds, military posts, and embassies abroad.
