The teenage girl who says murder suspect Robert Matthews confessed to her feared she would be next, she told his Calgary trial Monday.
“I was scared,” the witness, who can only be identified as A.B., told Crown prosecutor Carla MacPhail.
She testified she was camping when Matthews sent her a series of texts in September 2023.
“I got a text message (from) Robert telling me to check the Calgary news,” she said.

“He was saying he was in trouble,” the witness told Matthews’ Calgary Court of King’s Bench trial.
“He was saying something about how he was in trouble and I needed to know what was on the Calgary news,” she said.
