North Iredell High School Athletic Director John Sherrill officially announced Sunday night that he is retiring after 31 years in public education.
Sherrill turned in his paperwork Aug. 13 and informed school administration and coaches Aug. 14-15.
Sept. 30 will be his last day.
This was the start of Sherrill’s seventh year at North Iredell. He took over as school athletic director in Fall of 2019 with intent of serving four years before retiring.
“While I have loved every minute of it, the time has finally come,” Sherrill said.
Sherrill began his career at St. Stephens High School. Following one year there and one year at East Alexander Middle School, he began a 23-year stint in Mooresville at Brawley Middle School.
At North Iredell, Sherrill headed the athletic program during a time
