Kids Count Data shows families face increasing costs, mixed poverty trends

TRAVERSE CITY — Data released today revealed a complicated picture of childhood poverty and family economics.

The 2025 Kids Count in Michigan Data Book, from the Michigan League for Public Policy, revealed that counties in the region saw the percentage of all children in poverty dip slightly over a five-year period, but several saw the number of young children in poverty grow.
