PROVO, Utah (NewsNation) — Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, made his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon via video link from the county jail, where he remains held without bail.
Prosecutors charged Robinson with seven separate counts and confirmed they will seek the death penalty. A pre-trial protective order was granted for Kirk’s widow, Erika.
According to Utah Code 78B-7-803, pretrial protective orders are standard for family members of victims and allows for any relief or provisions that prevents communication from the alleged perpetrator towards the victim or their family.
The next pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. MT.
