RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. —
A school district employee in South Carolina was arrested after authorities say she brought a gun into a school.
The Richland County Sheriff's Office said about 7:30 a.m. Monday a school resource officer was alerted by a metal detector that there was a gun in an employee's bag at Richland Northeast High School. Latest Forecast

The gun was found in Crystal Gamble's bag, deputies said.

The school's website lists Gamble as a secretary.
Authorities said the gun was secured and Gamble was detained.
The SRO said Gamble was the legal owner of the gun and said she forgot it was in her bag.
Gamble was charged with carrying a weapon on school property.
