Ms McInerney won the seat for Labor after also contesting it at the 2023 poll.

Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald tabled a mayoral motion to congratulate Ms McInerney.

"I recommend that council formally congratulate Katelin McInerney on a successful election as the member for Kiama in the recent by-election," Cr McDonald said.
