The Boston Red Sox salvaged the final game of their weekend series against the New York Yankees on Sunday, and with it, probably saved their season — at least as far as their shot at making the playoffs goes. They defeated the Yankees 6-4 behind ace starter Garrett Crochet — and the 30th save of the season for 37-year-old closer Aroldis Chapman.

Remarkably, in his 16th MLB season, Chapman is turning in the performance of his career. His 1.26 ERA would be his career best, as would his 0.680 WHIP. Most importantly for Chapman who has struggled with control for most of his career, his walks-per-nine-innings rate of 2.2 is less than half his career average of 4.5.
