The Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation (SBFC) recently concluded the second season of their Youth Wilderness Program.
This free program introduces teens from Idaho and Montana to backpacking and teaches them the skills to live, work and play in the wilderness safely and responsibly.
Twelve teens from Montana and 37 from Idaho partook in one of 10 multiday expeditions in the largest wilderness complex in the lower 48, which consists of the Selway-Bitterroot, Frank Church-River of No Return and Gospel Hump Wilderness areas. Ten of the participants were from the Bitterroot Valley.
