A 38-year-old woman who prosecutors say was killed by her brother in Lynn on Sept. 7 was remembered in her obituary as a "shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her."

Michelle Knox was found dead inside a home on Newhall Street in Lynn early on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 7. Her brother, Joshua Smith, has since been arrested and charged with murder.

Knox’s family asked in her obituary that she be remembered not by how her life ended but how she lived, and for the "profound impact [she] had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her."

Knox was born on Dec. 7, 1986, in Boston. She later attended Woonsocket High School. Knox eventually worked in different fields, including as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
