PROVO, UT -- A capital murder charge is expected to be filed Tuesday against Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing political activist Charlie Kirk. According to the Associated Press, charges are expected to be filed ahead of Robinson’s first court appearance, also scheduled for Tuesday.
Robinson, 22, is scheduled to appear on camera for a virtual court hearing once charges are officially filed. Robinson has been held without bail since he was arrested on Sept. 11, one day after Kirk was killed. It is unclear whether Robinson has an attorney.
Prosecutors are considering several different charges, with the most serious being aggravated murder, the AP reports. If convicted of aggravated murder, the death penalty would be an option as a sentence.
