(WHTM) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall of nearly 2,000 Ram vehicles.

The NHTSA says that Chrysler is recalling 1,761 Ram vehicles because the side curtain air bag inflaters may rupture, which could result in sharp metal fragments striking the occupants, resulting in injury.

This recall includes certain 2018 Ram 1500, Ram 2,500, and Ram 3,500 vehicles.

Moving forward, the NHTSA says the dealers will replace one or both side curtain airbags as necessary, free of charge.
