Longtime District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District, Scott Perrilloux, is retiring after 30 years, saying he doesn't plan to seek reelection in 2026.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve those who live in the district and others who have needed the services of the District Attorney’s office”, Perrilloux said in a press release Tuesday.

Perrilloux will have served as DA for three decades when he retires after first being elected in 1996. The judicial district includes Livingston, Tangipahoa and St. Helena parishes.

Perrilloux, a Hammond native, is currently in his fifth term as DA. Prior to that, he served as city prosecutor and assistant city attorney for Hammond, assistant district attorney and judge pro tempore.
