Delta State University was preparing to celebrate its centennial when a gruesome discovery occurred. A dead body was found hanging on campus, forcing the Cleveland, Miss. school to cancel all centennial plans.

21-year-old student Demartravion “Trey” Reed was found hanging on a tree near the DSU pickleball courts on Monday (Sept. 15). The school’s police chief, Michael L. Peeler, reported that the death was a suicide and there was no evidence of foul play involved, per The Clarion Ledger . It is worth noting that the Bolivar County coroner has yet to confirm that Reed’s death was a suicide.
