OSCODA – Two members of the Oscoda community are taking a day to clean up state property areas this weekend, and the public is encouraged to join in the effort.
Ted Maliniak, a Vietnam Veteran who has also had cancer many times in his life, enjoys spending time in the woods and walking down trails. But there are people who leave junk along these trails, such as couches and chairs, and Maliniak does his best to clean up what is left behind.
His son-in-law, John Klocek, has also helped him clean these places multiple times. He recalled a time when they went to Greenbush Township and picked up eight to nine couches, as well as multiple chairs that were left behind.
Klocek decided to call the Department of Natural Resources about this issue and, while more people have been caught dumping of
