FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 19-year-old Fort Wayne woman was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison for assisting in the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old girl in 2022.

Ja’Layah Brown was first charged with conspiracy to commit murder resulting in death in the case in January 2023, but took a plea deal the following March.

The agreement dismissed her first charge and allowed her to plead guilty to assisting a criminal in exchange for agreeing to testify against others in the case.

Brown was the second of three people to be charged in connection with 16-year-old Le’Brishia Hobbs being shot on July 6, 2022, and dying a month later.
