CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is swearing in its new Chief of Police Tuesday as Jonathan Thomas officially takes the helm of the district's law enforcement operations.
Chief Thomas brings extensive experience from his tenure with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, where he has served in various capacities ranging from Special Operations to Emergency Management. Thomas also demonstrated his leadership capabilities by heading teams in western North Carolina during Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at 1 p.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.
