WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Brooke County Prosecuting Attorney Allison Cowden remembered talking to Sheriff’s Department Sgt. S. Siranovic on a Friday and telling him she hoped it would be a quiet weekend because she knew he was on patrol. She said the quiet weekend lasted until Sunday morning when a call came into the Brooke County 911 center from a man who was obviously intoxicated.
“I remember he called me and said, ‘You’re not going to believe this, but we had a guy call into dispatch and basically confess to murdering his father all these years ago,” said Cowden.
Siranovic began to do investigate and research the case files to see if the man’s story panned out. The man who called was James Adams Sr. ,63, of Chester, W.Va. He claimed to have killed his father, Edward Adams in their Wellsburg
