Schnucks will acquire a Wisconsin-based grocery chain and its 51-store footprint next month.
On Tuesday, the Schnucks family announced that its newly formed company, St. Louis-based The 1939 Group Inc., has agreed to buy Skogen’s Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers Inc.
Skogen’s Festival Foods has 42 stores throughout Wisconsin. Hometown Grocers includes nine banners including Dave's County Market, Denny's Supervalu, Don's Quality Market.
Schnucks said that it will maintain these existing store brands and welcome more than 8,000 associates to the company, bringing the Schnucks workforce to 19,000 people.
