LINWOOD — Kaos, a K-9 with the Police Department, died Monday after a battle with kidney disease, officials said.
He was 8 years old and started with the department in 2018.
"Kaos was more than just a police dog; he was a loyal partner, a protector, and a friend," police said on Facebook. "Always ready to serve, Kaos worked tirelessly alongside his handler and partner, Sgt. Charles Champion, keeping our city safe and building countless bonds with residents, young and old."
Koas was donated to the department by César and Deanna DePaço, police said. The DePaços donated $10,000 from Summit Nutritionals to the department to fund the purchase of Kaos and cover the cost of training the dog as well as his handler.
