A moose fell onto Boulder Canyon Drive yesterday after it appears to have been walking along a cliff and stumbled.
In the incident, the male moose broke both of its back legs, according to Kara Van Hoose, spokesperson for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Two broken legs gave the moose virtually no chance of survival, Van Hoose said, as wild animals rely on their mobility to get around and find food.
CPW officers responded to the moose and euthanized it. Van Hoose said it was the “humane” thing to do, and the animal needed to be “put out of its misery.”
The agency did not immediately confirm where the moose was along Boulder Canyon Drive and did not provide information on any traffic implications. Originally Published: September 16, 2025 at 12:35 PM MDT
