ALTOONA, Iowa —

Altoona is moving away from its annual tradition of holding Beggars' Night on Oct. 30, as the city council voted Monday night to hold the event on Halloween, Oct. 31.

Communities started to reconsider the date last year after severe weather postponed the tradition to Halloween.

Several other cities, including Des Moines, Urbandale, Waukee, and Clive, have already voted to make the change.

Johnston, Pleasant Hill, and Polk City are still considering it.
