CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A wanted sex offender died by suicide Tuesday in Canton after an incident involving the U.S. Marshals.

Canton police say Marshals were trying to serve a warrant at a home in the 1100 block of Clarendon Avenue NW.

Marshals say a 52-year-old man inside the home had failed to register with his local sheriff.

As Marshals attempted to arrest the man, he reportedly shot himself, prompting Canton police to respond.

Marshals say one task force officer also fired.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was called to the scene as well.

The suspect’s name was not released. The investigation is ongoing.
