A 74-year-old Australian man is in trouble in this country after being pulled over by police for impaired driving.

Police were alerted by an off-duty RCMP officer around 3:30 Monday afternoon about a possible impaired driver heading westbound on the Trans Canada.

The vehicle was pulled over and police say the driver, who showed signs of impairment, failed a roadside breath test.

He was arrested and brought to the Holyrood detachment where RCMP say he provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on Friday, September 26th and his driving privileges in Newfoundland and Labrador have been suspended.

The vehicle he was driving was also seized and impounded.
