The Cincinnati Bengals have officially placed quarterback Joe Burrow , which will rule him out for at least four games, the team announced on Tuesday (September 16).

"Placed QB Joe Burrow on the Reserve/Injured list. Burrow, 28, a sixth-year player, suffered a toe injury in Sunday's game against Jacksonville," the Bengals confirmed on their website.

Cincinnati also promoted quarterback Brett Rypien off the practice squad to the active roster following the move. Burrow is reportedly expected to undergo toe surgery , which will sideline him for at least three months, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN 's Adam Schefter Monday (September 15) morning.
