Alan Jackson, the prominent criminal defense lawyer who led Karen Read’s criminal defense , has officially joined the team of attorneys representing her in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of her boyfriend, John O’Keefe.

Along with Jackson, a judge granted motions to admit two other lawyers, Elizabeth Little and Caleb Mason, from Jackson’s Los Angeles, California-based law firm to represent Read in the civil case. Because none of the lawyers are licensed to practice in Massachusetts, they required court approval to represent Read in the civil case.

Little was also a member of the team that represented Read during her two criminal trials, which concluded with her acquittal on all charges connected to O’Keefe’s death in June.
