Elizabeth Spurgeon could light up a room with her humour.

Her best friend, Alisha Gifford, remembers meeting her in their senior year at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School, after Gifford moved with her family to Cambridge from Nevada.

Spurgeon was an athlete, wrestling for Saints and was a District 8 rugby all-star. She enjoyed powerlifting, dancing and music. Gifford recalls the shrine Spurgeon had in her bedroom for late rapper Tupac Shakur.

On Friday, the 36-year-old’s body was found on the side of Brant-Waterloo Road in North Dumfries. Police said her death is considered suspicious, but have released few details about what might have transpired leading up to the morning she was found.
