Melania Trump was back in action Tuesday ahead of a U.K. state visit with President Donald Trump.
The ultra-private first lady – who has receded from public view in recent months – wore a Burberry trench coat and black sunglasses Sept. 16 as the pair embark on a three-day trek to England, holding hands with her husband at the White House.
The trip to London – set to mix pageantry with foreign policy – is President Trump's second state visit to the U.K. and follows an invitation from the royal family that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended when he visited Washington, D.C. in February. President Trump's first U.K. state visit came in 2019 during his first term.
Trump, whose fashion is thought to reflect her mood, wore the long honey-colored trench coat as the luxury British brand's iconic lining peeked through.
The Trumps will keep a busy schedule during their time across the pond. After arriving Tuesday night, the duo will visit Windsor Castle on Wednesday, Sept. 17 and meet with Prince William and Princess Kate, according to the White House.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to formally welcome the first couple, though Camilla's status is unclear after she pulled out from attending a Sept. 16 funeral service for the Duchess of Kent as she recovers from acute sinusitis.
Trump and the queen will tour Queen Mary's Dolls' House and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle. The first lady will also join Kate at Frogmore House and Gardens to meet Dwayne Fields, the chief scout in the UK's Scouts Association.
But the pair's visit to the U.K. doesn't come without backlash. The Stop Trump Coalition said it has organized a protest outside Windsor Parish Church, where organizers will hold signs saying President Trump is unwelcome.
Melania Trump has led quiet public life during second Trump term
The first lady has kept a low profile during her husband's second term.
She appeared at a White House event Sept. 4 about artificial intelligence and tech innovation, marking her return to public life after a two-month hiatus. Her last official public outing was in mid-July at the FIFA Club World Cup in New York City.
Despite a light calendar, Melania Trump has chosen to appear alongside the president at select events, including his second inauguration festivities, Fourth of July celebrations, the funeral of Pope Francis, the White House Easter egg roll, visiting Texas flooding victims and the administration's multimillion-dollar festival and parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.
