An Alabama mother has been indicted in the drug overdose death of her toddler daughter.
A Jefferson County grand jury on Sept. 12 indicted 24-year-old Farrah Bates with reckless manslaughter, a Class B felony, and chemical endangerment, a Class A felony, involving the death of her daughter, 2-year-old Ariyah Crawford, according to court records made public Tuesday.
Bates was initially charged and arrested in 2023 on the charges in connection with Ariyah’s death.
Tarrant police later obtained new charges against her for unlawful possession or receipt of a controlled substance- fentanyl possession, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
About 4 p.m. on July 18, Tarrant police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Old Pinson Highway
