The Senate’s top budget writer said he has some concerns about a plan from Gov. Maura Healey to make driving records public again after an immigrant driver’s license law sealed them away.

But Senate Ways and Means Chair Michael Rodrigues cautioned he had not yet made a deep dive into the details of the policy change, which Healey included in a $2.45 billion spending bill she filed last month that lawmakers are considering in smaller portions.

In a brief interview Tuesday as he walked into the State House from Beacon Street, Rodrigues said he is taking a look at the records access language, but other issues, like $234 million for hospitals and community health centers facing economic headwinds, are taking priority.
