Finding the perfect baby name may feel daunting for new parents, but a new survey is revealing how moms often find baby name inspiration.

A recent BabyCenter poll surveyed more than 450 moms who had a baby in the past year.

Nearly 1 in 4 baby names are chosen from family name

By the numbers:

According to the data, nearly 1 in 4 baby names (23%) named their baby with a family name.

This was followed by 15% who used a naming app, book or list.

A less popular option among respondents was choosing a baby name based on a meaningful place or region, at 12%, and choosing a pop-culture-inspired name from a celebrity, book, movie or television show at 11%.
