Calgary has made changes to allow cannabis sales at all-ages events — but only under tightly controlled conditions.

The city officially amended its Business Licence Bylaw to align municipal regulations with recent updates from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC), which began permitting cannabis sales at all-ages entertainment events in July 2025.

Retailers must now ensure that all sales and consumption take place in designated areas where minors are not permitted. Cannabis sales and consumption areas must be clearly marked and physically separated.

As part of the amended bylaw, retailers must apply to the AGLC for a temporary licence extension and comply with all provincial safety and security regulations.
