High Point police have charged a man with first-degree murder in connection with a homicide that occurred in July, according to a release from the department.

On July 13 at 1:30 p.m., officers with the High Point Police Department were called to the 1000 block of Sales Street.

When officers arrived, they found Anthony Linton, 60, suffering from a gunshot wound, the release said.

Linton was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Sept. 16, High Point police detectives arrested Vincente Baker, 49, in Thomasville, and he was subsequently charged with murder, according to the release.

Police say that Baker and Linton knew each other, and the shooting was not random.
