A civil rights complaint filed with the Department of Homeland Security alleges a former assistant warden, prison officers, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile subjected a woman and three transgender people to abuse from 2023 to 2025.
The complaint, filed Monday by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana, the National Immigration Project and the Southeast Dignity Not Detention coalition, is on behalf of several detainees who say they experience sexual assault, forced labor, denial of medical care, and retaliatory solitary confinement while awaiting deportation at the Evangeline Parish facility.
