RICHMOND, Va. — Pharmacies, doctors' offices and clinics are all prepared to give out flu shots for this year's season.
With vaccine skepticism growing across the country, health experts are hoping the hesitation doesn't spread like the flu virus can. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly flu vaccine for people six months and older ; the best time to get one is before the end of October.
Virginia Department of Health's respiratory disease program coordinator, Lisa Sollot, describes the campaign to encourage people to get vaccinated as a hill they climb every year.
"We always push for the highest vaccination coverage we can get because we know that the flu vaccine is the number one way to prevent the flu and keep ourselves and our loved ones healthy,"
