WASHINGTON, D.C. (WWNY) - Could the country be close to creating a program that will help farms hold onto a legal, year-round workforce?
Border czar Tom Homan suggests so.
In a recent interview at the White House, 7 News anchor Jeff Cole asked Homan about immigration enforcement raids on farms and how he has said in the past he knows the challenges farmers face and how important it is for the U.S. to create a path forward so farms can have a legal, stable workforce.
Right now, the H-2A program helps fill temporary agricultural jobs. That doesn’t help dairy farms where help is needed year-round.
