Ian Belcher, 21, of Akron, was sentenced on Sept. 16 to about a decade in prison for misdemeanor child abuse in the death of 1-year-old Arteyon Cannon combined with sentences handed down in separate cases.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Alisson McCarty sentenced Belcher to 8 to 11½ years in prison across multiple cases. He received six months in Arteyon's case, roughly a month after jurors found him guilty of a lesser charge.
