LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Michigan State Board of Education has decided on a contract with Dr. Glenn Maleyko.

Dr. Maleyko is set to take over as the state’s Superintendent.

The contract was signed by Dr. Malekyo, State Board of Education President Dr. Pamela Pugh, and board Secretary Dr. Judith Pritchett Tuesday afternoon.

Dr. Maleyko will begin working on Dec. 8 under a three-year contract.

The State Board selected Dr. Maleyko on Aug. 26. He will succeed Dr. Michael Rice, who’s retiring on Oct. 3

Dr. Sue Carnell will serve as interim State Superintendent from Oct. 4 to Dec. 7.
