A 13-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested in Tamworth, accused of a violent stabbing of a motelier on the weekend.

The teen boy was taken into custody in Hillvue on Tuesday morning, three days after a 52-year-old was attacked at a motel on Alice Street in Moree.

Police allege the local motelier disturbed a group of five teenagers who broke into a room at the motel shortly before 1am on Sunday, September 14.

The group allegedly turned on the man, and he was stabbed in the torso and the arm.

Four of the teenagers fled the scene, but police arrived and arrested a 13-year-old boy.

Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics rushed to help the injured motelier, who was transported to the hospital.
