A Perry County man is accused of shooting and killing his wife in their home.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers responded to a home in the 1400 block of New Valley Road in Rye Township around 10:30 a.m. on Monday after receiving a 911 call from Douglas Snyder, 56, that a shooting had occurred. Advertisement

Upon arrival, troopers opened the front door of the home and found Samantha Fields, 38, dead with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Son found his mother's body, police say

Snyder and Fields' son told investigators that the three of them were home when he went to sleep, according to the court documents.

According to the affidavit, the boy said, "he woke up and saw a body and it was his mom."

'I guess I shot her,' Snyder said
