BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - A local organization is working to ensure that eligible voters are registered to cast their ballots in time for this year's election.
The League of Women Voters got a head start on National Voter Registration Day by tabling outside of the YWCA in downtown Binghamton on September 16th.
A pair of volunteers helped people fill out the registration forms, offered absentee ballot applications and provided information about voter rights.
Vice President Carla Michalak says the local officials that we elect are the ones responsible for maintaining public safety, paving the roads and picking up the garbage.
