EXINGTON, Ky. — Concerns over the budget in Kentucky’s second-largest school district continue. Tuesday, the issue came to Frankfort as Fayette County Public Schools superintendent, Demetrus Liggins, addressed concerns and questions from state lawmakers.

After a summer filled with budget woes, Liggins said the district now has a balanced budget. In front of lawmakers, the leader of FCPS took full accountability for a $16 million gap in the district’s proposed budget this spring.

“I certainly realize I should have asked sharper questions; I should have demanded more comprehensive details to ensure that I had a full understanding,” Liggins said.
