BELINGTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Students in Barbour County spent their day a little differently on Tuesday, as the first-ever Barbour County Water Festival kicked off with a mission to teach kids about all things water.

The festival gave students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and interactive learning exhibits focused on aquatic life, the water cycle, stormwater and other water-related lessons.

The event was held at Barbour County Park behind the Barbour County Fairgrounds and featured guest speakers from a number of water and wildlife-based organizations in West Virginia that the festival partnered with.

Project WET coordinator Tomi Berstrom believes that hands-on learning is important for these students.
