CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officially welcomed Jonathan D. Thomas as the district’s new Chief of Police during a ceremony held on Tuesday.
With over two decades of law enforcement experience, CMS said Chief Thomas steps into the role with a background in leadership and public safety.
Thomas began his career with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police in 1998. Since then, he has served in several positions, including Special Operations and Emergency Management.
Thomas holds a Criminal Justice degree from UNC Charlotte, an MBA from Pfeiffer University, and law enforcement training from the University of Virginia and the FBI National Academy.
