A suspected murderer fled to the Adirondacks after killing his girlfriend in Upstate New York, police said.

More than two days later, the manhunt for accused killer Anthony G. Bechand in the remote region near the High Peaks continues.

The search for the 53-year-old man started Sunday morning after the body of his girlfriend, Amanda Rodriguez, was found inside the home the couple shared at 4 Earl Lynn Court in Cohoes , a quiet town in the Capital Region, according to statements from the New York State Police and Cohoes Mayor Bill Keeler.

Rodriguez died after being stabbed repeatedly in the chest, WNYT reported. Although her body was found around 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Cohoes Mayor Bill Keeler told WNYT the 41-year-old woman was likely killed on Saturday.
