WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A special locomotive that goes by the name of "Mack" has been delivered to the Great Plains Transportation Museum for the 2025 Kansas Railfest.
The Jeddo Coal Co. #85, an operating steam locomotive that was built in 1928, arrived Tuesday from Maine.
"I would imagine that got some pretty stark looks on the way down here from the northeast. I mean, it's not something you see every day, a steam locomotive on board a flatbed truck," Lon Smith, the director at the Great Plains Transportation Museum, said. • KSN Photo • KSN Photo • KSN Photo • KSN Photo
Railfest will take place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and under with an adult. Tickets will be available at the door.
