OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - People in the historic Florence neighborhood are celebrating a major victory against fast traffic that was a long time coming.

For years, people who live and work in the Florence area complained about how fast traffic moved through their neighborhood.

This what-could-have-been moment happened last December. Children were playing behind the fence of Crayon Castle daycare along North 30th Street.

Moments after they went inside, a speeding car came crashing through the fence.

Daycare owner Jaque Casey went to work, putting up barricades to keep the children safe. Then she continued her crusade to slow traffic on North 30th Street.
