KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

A Kansas City firefighter involved in the 2021 Westport fire truck crash that killed three people must be reinstated with back pay and benefits, according to a final arbitration ruling.

Arbitrator Leland Shurin ruled that firefighter Dominic Biscari should return to duty with full benefits, subject to a three-day suspension without pay. Advertisement

The award also orders the city to remove termination references from his personnel file.

The crash happened Dec. 15, 2021 , when Biscari drove a fire pumper through a red light and collided with a Honda CR-V, killing its two occupants and a pedestrian .

In February 2023, Biscari pleaded guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter.
